BQ was a Spanish technology company founded in 2009, known for producing smartphones, tablets, e-readers, and 3D printers. The company gained recognition for launching Europe’s first Android One phone, the BQ Aquaris A4.5, and for developing the world’s first mobile phone and tablet running the Ubuntu Phone operating system . In 2018, BQ sold a 51% stake to the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, which later operated the brand under the name VinSmart . Despite initial success, BQ faced financial difficulties and ceased operations in 2021, transitioning to focus on robotics, 3D printing, and educational technology.
